Napoleon Hill's" Think and Grow Rich" believed that a leader with a keen sense of justice was that next quality that a person with followers should have. A leader with this quality does the right thing even when no one is watching. A true leader abides by his own inner codes to dictate what he does for any given situation. When I think of a leader in history with a keen sense of justice , Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK Jr.) comes to mind. MLK Jr. in his fight to end racial segregation and racial discrimination did it through civil disobedience and non-violent means. He fought for justice and fairness in the face of danger staying true to his convictions and beliefs. People followed and respected MLK Jr. based on a number of factors, but his keen sense of justice was the overshadowing factor that made him a strong leader. A fish stinks from the head down, so if the leader is not doing what is right, then his followers will do the same.
If you have a good grasp of right from wrong, then your business will have a very strong foundation. If you are truly committed to your beliefs system, then you will do what is right always. The company that recalls a defective product, because they found the defect, as opposed to the company that does the recall after the media shine lights on the issue, is looked upon by many in a better light. The goodwill that is generated by this action can not be measured on a monetary basis.
The desire to make more profit is overshadowed by the desire to do what is right. If your business model is based on lying, cheating and hoodwinking people into coming into your business, then eventually the house of cards will implode. Leaders must true to themselves and respond in a way that ethical and fair and it does not matter whether he is under the microscope or not.
