The vast majority of people think that obesity is a matter of just eating too much, while not exercising enough. But the causes of obesity are much more complicated than that. The fact is Obesity is caused when there is a problem with your metabolism which in turn starts a vicious cycle. Understanding the way your metabalism works is the key to breaking this cycle of obesity.
Simply put your metabolism is responsible for the taking in of nutrients, digesting them and turning them into energy. Energy then controls basic biological functions such as breathing and body temperature, as well as the more well known directed activities such as walking, reading, working, and playing.
To fuel activities necessary for normal human activities and basic biological sustenance we need to consume carbohydrates which are turned into blood sugar. We will  remain healthy if a balance between nutrition and the cellular burning of fuel is maintained. It is when this relationship is unbalanced that you become overweight. Â
Once something goes wrong with your basic metabolism, the vicious cycle of obesity gradually sets in. In this case, you will see a three-stage cycle of obesity begin.
First, spiking blood sugar levels will be caused by eating foods rich in refined carbohydrates - such as white sugar and white flour. to cope with the excess blood sugar levels extra insulin will be produced. Over time, the unused blood sugar is stored in your body as fat. Â
Then, insulin resistance will set in reducing the body's ability to burn these blood sugars. The body reacts poorly to the continual excess production of insulin and begins to use insulin less efficiently. After a few years of high blood sugar your body becomes resistant to the ,now weakened, insulin production. The net effect of this is that your body is less able to deal with obesity.
Eventually, after years of obesity, your body begins to malfunction and you become far more susceptible to diseases such as heart failure and diabetes. Your body cannot possibly function properly if your metabolism is functioning incorrectly.
There is no "quick fix" to this cycle of obesity, but by normalizing your metabolism - getting it working properly again you can take your blood sugar levels back to normal. Controlling your metabolic rate will allow the insulin production to again function properly in your body. Your body will no longer store blood sugars as fat when they are efficiently metabolized and burned for energy. Each passing day your metabolism will start burning the fat stored in your body - and you will lose weight. As you lose weight and your metabilsm begins to balance you will start to feel like a new, more energetic, person and really enjoy life.
