 Basic Acne Fighting Methods

Acne is simply a part of your life when you are in your teen years. Part of what helps us deal with acne as teenagers is knowing that everyone else in our age group is going through the same problems. When we grow up we try to convince ourselves that our years of breakouts are over. This is one of the reasons that finding those rogue pimples or having those sporadic breakouts can be so embarrassing. Finding a few zits or pimples in the morning can be enough to send a fully grown adult into a childhood regression. When you are an adult those few zits and pimples usually come with quite a bit of facial pain. Use these tips to help you fight your acne whether you are still in high school or are all grown up.

Go easy when you wash your face! Don't wash too hard! Acne has an easier time settling into a face that has recently been scrubbed! Putting too much pressure on your skin when you wash your face can injure the sensitive skin you are trying to keep clean and can leave it more damaged than anything else. You could even scar your face if you scrub it too hard! It is important that you learn how to wash your face gently but firmly. Don't fret--you can do it! A bright red face is not the goal! The goal is to have a flush, but that flush should not be beet red. You want to have a healthy glow but stop short of looking like a red light bulb.

Keep your hands off your face. Most of us don't realize just how often we touch our faces during the day. Letting your face rest in your hands is just one way to clog your pores. Give yourself a minute to contemplate this. Every time you touch something and then touch your face you are transporting some of that item into your facial pores. Your hands always have a thin layer of oil on them and when you rest your face in your hands, you are transferring that oil into your pores. This is partly what makes it so easy for you to catch the flu: you pick up something that has been touched by someone who is sick and then later brush something off of your face and transfer the germs right onto your face where they have easy access to your nose, eyes, mouth, ears and pores: all places to infect with the flu! This is just one reason why touching your face with your hands is a bad idea.

Keeping your hands clean is a must if you can't make yourself stop touching your face. Keep the zits away by washing your hands a lot throughout every day.

Do not, under any circumstances, pick at pimples or zits when they occur! Do not squeeze pimples or pick at zits. Leaving your acne alone is always the best idea. It is all right to wash your face and treat your breakout with some acne fighting cleanser but never ever pop or pick at your zits. Sometimes acne will take a little bit of time to heal. What would your rather have happen? A pimple on your face for a couple of days or a pimple scar for the rest of your life?

You can choose the best method of treating your acne. Whether you need a strong chemical based cleanser or can get by with just some natural ingredients, your choices are wide and varied. Believe it or not there are even some people who are able to cure their acne with diet and exercise. Finding the ultimate cure for your acne is a trial and error process. Eventually you will learn what works for you and what won't. Keep trying and before you know it your skin will be acne free!
