Why Are Critical Proactive It Services Needed?

Most IT services can be viewed as means of preventing the inevitable PC crash that causes a lot of concern and dissatisfaction for customers. A good IT service will focus on being more proactive than reactive. The better the IT services are the more proactive services a shop may offer. There are three critical areas of proactive support that should be deemed invaluable to every computer owner.

Security

The first is network security. Today's wireless networks are extremely safe when properly set up. An improperly configured network poses a huge security risk to a user. By default a wireless router, owned by most users, is extremely open to attack. Statistically speaking, 1 in 3 computer owners do not change the default passwords or settings on their routers. This leaves them very open to attack by hackers. Oftentimes PC owners do not even consider that a hacker is no longer a person who sits in a dark room quietly typing away in a maze of windows. Hackers today are more sophisticated than ever. A recent spike in Wi-Fi hijacking was recently mentioned in The New York Times. This article mentioned a method referred to as drive-by Wi-Fi. Essentially, a hacker would ride around neighborhoods looking for wireless signals with default settings. In some areas people were leaving signs nearby to alert others of a free Wi-Fi spot. A good IT shop will be able to set a Wi-Fi network to the proper settings to ensure things are kept safe and tight.

Backups

Another critical area is backups. Almost 40% of computer users do not back up their computers. This can be a nightmare in the making. The rest of the users back up but to a single hard drive, which is better, but not by much. The best solution for backing up is to pay an IT service for a remote backup plan. Remote backup plans are managed by a larger company in which almost always redundant array of independent disks (RAID) hard drives are employed. RAID hard drives simply mirror each other in sequence so that if one drive fails, 5 others that are exactly the same exist. This ensures the highest level of data integrity. Backups are an essential proactive activity for a PC user.

The last critical area of proactive computer support is general tidiness of the machine. Most users never think about defragmenting their computer's hard drive, cleaning their registries of junk or simply remove wasted and unneeded files. Most IT services include some kind of monthly maintenance cycle that can keep a PC running as smoothly as it did the day it was purchased.

Today's computers are increasingly more complicated and because of this a good it service with proactive principles can be a real life saver. .Are you looking full ebook about this topicGet Full Ebook For This Article
