Which Are Advantages of Energy Drinks ?

Are energy drinks good for you?

Any natural foods store where you enter and you will find numerous products of different brands of energy drinks. The so-called fitness magazines (many of which are really advertisements disguised as informative articles - beware) tout all the benefits of their drink and likely picture some model with a testimonial below.

What is the bottom line on the results of drinking those beverages? Do they help you boost your energy? Do they make you more alert? Do they increase your athletic prowess? Do they support weight loss?

Did you ever stop to read the ingredients on the label?

As with other junk food cleverly packaged as health food, most energy drinks are really junk foods too. Most contain high fructose corn syrup (research reveals that ingreient to be one of the single worst foods you can consume as far as damaging your health goes) and carbonated water.

Think about carbonated water for a moment. What makes it bubbly? The company pumps in carbon dioxide under high pressure. Hmm. Let's think about this. You inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. That would make carbon dioxide a waste product your body doesn't like and expels!

And you consume beverages artificiality stuffed with it? That makes sense, doesn't it? Not!

Okay. Keep reading down the list. You usually find caffeine listed. Do you like that buzz? Then go get coffee or tea without all the garbage!

But wait, sometimes the manufacturer is smart enough to throw in some seemingly healthful ingredients like the amino acid taurine and some B vitamins (which also produce a buzz). Many people will be lulled into thinking they are doing something good for themselves by drinking the product.

Oka,y so you notice shelf after shelf of drinks purporting to be zero calories and o sugar-free. Great. They use artificial sweeteners instead! Chemicals wreak havoc with your health--though you will not make the connection between cause and effect because the food manufacturers hype shift your attention elsewhere.

Of course studies show that in addition to the nasty health issues artificial sweeteners cause they chemically work inside your body to cause you to desire more calories so that you wind up overeating and gaining, rather than losing, fat.

Just for your information, when companies add vitamins (often manmade in a laboratory from questionable purity sources) they do not get absorbed or used by your body. So you create what some call "expensive urine." Want to get vitamins? Eat food that contains them naturally (not dead food from over farmed land).

Are energy drinks good for you? What does the label say?

So as you can see, in my opinion, I give all of these energy drinks a big time THUMBS DOWN! You're better off mixing up your own homemade energy drink with some iced unsweetened green, white, and oolong teas, a little bit of 100% pure berry or pomegranate juice, and maybe a touch of a non-denatured whey protein.

Well, I hope this article cleared up some of the confusion about these energy drinks that are being so heavily marketed these days, and will help you make more informed decisions for your health.
