Psoriasis Remedies - 9 Super Simple Ways to Fight Your Symptoms!

While there are currently no cures for psoriasis, there are several EASY steps you can take to help prevent your condition from worsening and actually relieve your symptoms. Below are 9 simple things you do right away to help fight your symptoms.

1. Moisturize - It's important to moisturize your skin in order to prevent it from bleeding, cracking, and becoming infected. Regularly applying moisturizers will help the skin keep its elasticity as well as reduce the appearance of plaques.

2. Soak - Soaking is an excellent way to remove scales and reduce skin redness. After soaking, don't forget to moisturize your skin 3-4 minutes afer getting out of the bathtub, otherwise you may experience excessive drying.

3. Humidify - It will be almost impossible for your skin to maintain a healthy amount of moisture in dry air. Using a room humidifier will help provide and lock in that moisture.

4. Use Certain Skin Products Carefully - Be extra careful when using products such as hair dyes, perms, and hair straighteners, as psoriasis is known to cause the skin to be easily aggravated by such substances. These products should NEVER be used when open wounds are present.

5. Avoid Harsh Soaps - Choose a mild soap instead, as harsh soaps can irritate the skin and increase itching. Soaps such as Nivea Cream Bar, Oilatum, Bassis, and Alpha Keri are great and contain excellent moisturizers.

6. Lose Weight - Being overweight causes psoriasis to be more uncomfortable and much harder to control.

7. Avoid Skin Injuries - Even minor injuries such as sunburn or irritation from tight clothing can worsen psoriasis symptoms

8. Use Certain Medications Carefully - Medicines such as beta blockers, antimalarials, and lithium are known to worsen psoriasis in some cases.

9. Treat Infections Promptly - Systemic infections such as strep throat can trigger flare ups. Always contact a doctor at the earliest sign of an infection.
